Diesel, known for its high quality clothing, started as an Italian denim company catering to the everyday working man. I decided what better way to pay homage to it’s roots than by making a tool line. After all, the attributes that make Diesel stand out from the crowd are its quality and craftsmanship which are also important traits in any great tool line. Diesel has the brand recognition and elasticity to successfully bridge into another market such as this one.
Wimbledon is the oldest and one of the most prestiges tennis tournaments in the world. The tournament was started in 1877 and since then its identity has changed very little. I have created a fresh and updated new look for the brand as well as a graphic standards manual. The brand identifier utilizes two tennis balls and a word mark, the seam in each of the tennis balls overlaps to create a secondary read of the letter “w”.
Bites Cafe Identity/Packaging
Bites Cafe was created as a sub-brand in a packaging project for Kohl’s department store. The idea behind the cafe was to create an environment where shoppers could relax grab a “bite” to eat and then continue shopping. The object is to keep shoppers in the store for longer amounts of time and to help Kohl’s grow from a department store into a destination.
El Sol Wine
El Sol is a small Northern Californian winery located in the Livermore Valley Wine Country. Upon visiting the winery and speaking with the Owner and Vintner it was clear that the El Sol brand needed re-align with the overall attitude and feel of the winery. I Created a seasonal line of wines that reflect the relaxed feel of the winery which will be sold at a lower price point. I also designed two high-end premium wines to be sold at the $100-$120 price point.
WWF Paint Packaging
The World Wildlife Fund is an organization on the forefront of environmental conservation. As designers our decisions can make a huge impact on the environment. By teaming up with the WWF to create a line of powdered paint I have killed two birds with one stone (metaphorically speaking of course) one, by making the packaging sustainable and eco-friendly we help the environment and two, all proceeds from paint sales would go to help the WWF with conservation.
Environmental Defense Fund
In my research I found that one of the most interesting things about the Environmental Defense Fund was their eagerness to form partnerships with major corporations. These partnerships are what spawned the concept of this promo book. The book shows unlikely pairs and in the end tells what the EDF does and all the unlikely partners it does it with. The concept being that sometimes if you have two diametrically opposed things when put together they can create something unexpected and wonderful.
Enspirit Promo Paper
Enspirit is a print design conference held in San Francisco. It focuses on the many different facets of print design and the ongoing struggle designers face keeping print relevant in todays tech heavy world. This promotional paper is to be given away as swag at the conference and includes a event schedule. It is a traditional broadsheet newspaper 23.5" x 29.5" but takes a non-traditional look at newspaper design and uses QR codes to bridge to online content.
Time + Space + Reading
Time + Space + Reading is a compilation of essays about the effect technology has on reading. I was given the task of typesetting, designing and compiling these essays into a book. The book design is intended to be somewhat avant-garde as the subject matter tends to lean a little to the obscure side. Some notable features of the design are the graphic elements that extend from one page to the next as well as alternating typefaces and styles between paragraphs.
The Melting Pot
The Melting Pot is an unbiased look at immigration in the United States. It takes a statistical look at various steps in the immigration process and a glance at what nationalities are immigrating to the country. Spreads include abstract renditions of different flags of the world and info graphics pertaining to different statistics about people on the road to citizenship. The books bold color palette gives a friendly and approachable look to a rather polarizing topic.
Neenah Paper Identity/Promotion
Neenah Paper is one the largest paper mills in North America. It is frequently associated with designers and artists. Since it is no secret that designers like to collect things I decided that a limited edition poster series on various styles of Neenah paper would be a great promotional piece. Each poster tells the grade, size, weight, color and finish as well as the name of the featured girl watercolored in the image and also what number print it is in the edition.
Nove Kitchen Packaging
Nova is a Kohl’s sub-brand in the kitchen department. It is designed to feel bold and mondern and also to feel clean (like we all want our kitchens to be). This is a higher price point line but still fits into the margins of what Kohl’s curently sells.
Wished App Design
Wished is an app I have conceived and designed that offers you a platform to create wish lists and send them to friends and family via text or email. By scanning an items UPC or copying its URL (if looking online) Wished will aggregate information such as price, where the item can be purchased etc. Additionally you will be able to place notes on each individual item on your wish list, for example “size xl” or “like this only blue” and so on.
